Sorry I misunderstood you, you mean you can't recover your system correctly, (mostly it stops with 99%)
Here is the solution:
1. if the first hard disk (aigo p8860 has two disks 2G + 2G) has been formatted differently (original is only one ext3 partition), the recovery will fail. it's a silly bug, allmost every recovery system will format the local disk first, but it does not.
2. an easy way is to boot from a live usb disk, and reformat the first disk (/dev/sda) to one ext3 (Linux) , then redo the recovery.
So, I installed a ubuntu moblie 7.10 on disk 2 (needs some modifications of the installation image), and the original midnux still exists, I can boot both systems by modifing the grub menu (boot menu) of the midnux.
The installed ubuntu moblie 7.10 will have about 400M free space in disk to install other softwares (I've tried skype, realplay, vlc, ...), but the live RW usb system only have about 40M free space.
BTW, I tried ubuntu moblie hardy(8.04) in p8860 (it looks better than 7.10), everything works well except touchscreen, I haven't fixed it yet....
